During October and November...

Good morning, everybody! It's Ryder again. It's been a little while since I've written, and some cool stuff has gone down. I told Dad to load up some pictures so I could show you what's been happening around here before we get back to the US in a few days.

Since I'm prone to waking up a bit early sometimes, I give Dad the chance to get some sunrise shots. It's never dull to look out from our windows and see this in the morning (above).

A few weeks back, we took a trip in the city - just exploring Kigali. We went up to the neighborhood of Nyamirambo, which is right up by Mt. Kigali. People were really nice to me on the streets, so we formed a little walking party.

Mom and I have seen a lot of Elmo's song about the a,b,c's. I love it. A lot.

We also had some local craftspeople make some furniture for us, and I even got to watch them make it!

Speaking of furniture, Dad went over to Orion's house in October to help his Dad, Eric, make a bench out of their old shipment crate. With Eric's tools, it turned out pretty great, and now we play on it.

I've spent a lot of time over at Orion's house. He's nice, and so are Eric and Stacy, but what I really like is the sandbox and ginormous Lego table. That stuff rocks.

Dad's also been busy making a few other things for the house. Since the banisters upstairs were big enough for me and a friend to fall through, Dad made these bamboo fences. His Dad (Poppa) taught him how to weave a long time ago on a loom, so Dad really knows his stuff. Good idea!

Of course, Dad's still up at all hours taking photographs of things like the moon and grasshoppers...

I've been making a tour of the best breakfast spots in the city. The top floor of the Mille Collines Hotel has a pretty good buffet, but you should go for the giant tables and nice view (above). After breakfast, I like to stay in town and check up on the construction cranes (below). They're really cool to watch.

I've discovered that bowls make terrific hats. I'm working on finishing the food first, but it was pretty fun to get pasta all over the kitchen!

George is our daytime guard. He is very nice to me and our English is about the same. We have fun playing in the front yard.

Just before dinner, Mom's gotta talk on the phone sometimes to people. I like to watch, and sometimes people even call me, too.

How did you get this number?

As you can see, it's still the rainy season. It's fun to watch the storms roll in across our backyard. This is the time of day when I usually want to get out in my yellow boots and rain jacket. It's fun.

Nite-nite gang, that's all I have for you. We head to Texas on Friday, then
get to see all my favorite peeps. See you soon!
